Ecological Bribery

How long will it take I wonder, before the majority of people in this country are morally blackmailed into changing their consumer habits? Every day we are bombarded by the media, news reports and advertising telling us of the supposedly irreversible damage that humans are doing to the planet – all seemingly in a desperate and cynical effort to get us all to ‘go green.’
But then of course, a similar sort of situation was happening hundreds of years ago, where, instead of the Earth being the deity, people were told to bow before the one true God lest they perish in the fiery dooms of hell. Similarly apocalyptic visions of the future were being espoused then as they are now. Nothing has really changed in that respect.

The government isn’t helping in this matter. Margaret Beckett compared climate skeptics to Islamic terrorists a couple of months ago. The greens have their own agenda to push - unfortunately the media keeps pushing it too because shocking headlines make for good sales, even if the substance is simply wrong.
